Agolin Ruminant&#174, an Essential Oil Blend, Increases Energy-Corrected Milk and Feed Efficiency in a High Component Dairy Herd

نویسندگان

چکیده

Agolin&#174 Ruminant (Agolin) is a blend of essential oils developed to improve feed efficiency while at the same time reducing rumen enteric methane production. Studies have shown that product improves lactational performance, but range results has been varied. This experiment evaluated effects additive Agolinon milk production in high-component (fat and protein) dairy herd when provided for an extended time. The was conducted large commercial Pacific Northwest, USA. Eight pens cows (350 500 cows/pen) were blocked by production, within blocks randomly assigned treatment. All received common total mixed ration. Treatment consisted providing 1 g/cow/day Agolin test group. A 4-week adaptation period followed 11-week study period. Milk composition determined cow averaging daily performance one-week before start trial (covariate period) last week each two periods. Feed intakes pen yield 1.11 kg/cow/day greater (P different = 0.854) between treatment groups midpoint increased with 0.002) end trial. Energy-corrected milk/feed ratio, based on parameters, significantly altered final (1.48 vs. 1.64 kg/kg control treatments, respectively).

Improvement of feed efficiency in dairy farming economically has a great importance. In this study, the genetic parameters of net energy efficiency and its relationships with milk yield, 3.2% fat corrected milk, body weight, gross income and income over feed costs were investigated, by the 2589 monthly records collected from the 723 lactating cows in the 3 herds. The different requirements of e...

Effects of Specific Essential Oil Compounds on, Feed Intake, Milk Production, and Ruminal Environment in Dairy Cows during Heat Exposure

The objective of this study was to determine effect of dietary essential oil (EO) compounds, which contained cinnamaldehyde, eugenol, peppermint, coriander, cumin, lemongrass, and an organic carrier on feed intake, milk composition, and rumen fermentation of dairy cows during heat exposure. Thirty-two Holstein cows (days in milk= 60 ± 5) were assigned to one of two treatment groups: a Control a...

Dairy operation management practices and herd milk production.

A national US survey collected data on herd milk production and management of Holstein herds. Step-wise selection identified management practices that were related to herd milk production using only operations that calculated herd milk production as well as using data from all operations. Results were similar. Milk production was highest in the West. Operations with < 100 dairy cows had lower p...
